Our Story

A Call to Brazil That Began in 1983

John and Kathy met at Lee University in 1979 and were appointed to Brazil in August 1983. They raised three children in São Paulo, planted churches, trained Latin American missionaries, and served eight years in Manaus. In 2024 they returned to Brazil to strengthen the ministries they helped begin.

Where We Serve

From the favelas of São Paulo to villages days upriver, our work follows the places the church has not yet reached.

    The Arrowhead Project

Reaching the unreached tribal groups of Brazil’s Amazon Basin through evangelism, discipleship, education, health care, and community development. Our goal is a church in every tribe, led by its own people.

      What We Do

    • Church planting and the training of indigenous pastors and leaders
    • Schools, medical clinics, and clean water systems for the villages
    • Discipleship materials developed for each tribe we work with
    • Raising up and sending Brazilian missionaries to the tribes

    São Paulo & Beyond

    Children’s Ministries

We care for children who have already lost their homes, and we reach children still at risk before they end up on the streets.

    • City of Refuge

We give a permanent home to children who have been abandoned or abused, so they can grow up safe, cared for, and in school.

    • Jim’s Kids Feeding Centers

We serve a hot meal every day to children in the poorest neighborhoods of São Paulo, along with tutoring, games, and job training for teenagers.

    • Beyond São Paulo

We support the same work in other parts of Brazil, reaching children in Amazon tribal villages, river communities, and the northeast.
